The ASB Tennis Classic starting in Auckland in January 1st will for the first time see four players from the worlds top 20 competing for the title.
The top seed will be world number 12, Jelena Jankovic who has had a great year in 2006. She competed in this tournament in 2005 where she made the quarterfinals.
Former World Number 2, Anastasia Myskina is also in the draw. Currently ranked 16th she will has dropped away a bit of late. Myskina will be looking to recapture the form that took her to number 2 in the world.
World Number 17, Marion Bartoli has been confirmed as a starter. Bartoli won the title this year when she beat Vera Zvonareva in the final.
The final player from the top 20 is Daniela Hantuchova. A very talented player who runs rather hot and cold. Can she bring more consistency to her game in 2007.
This looks quite a strong field and any one of these 4 players are capable of winning it. Will they do so or will there be an upset. We will have to wait and see. 39 days to the new season. I can't wait.
